Joining a Team

The Florida State Soccer Association is one of the largest of the 52 state associations comprising the Amateur Division of the United States Amateur Soccer Association.  The FSSA’s purpose is to promote and administer the game of soccer in all its United States Soccer Federation approved forms – be it outdoor or indoor, among men and women nineteen (19) years of age and over within the State of Florida and to manage all intra-state games leading to National Cups.

There are currently over 22 affiliated leagues throughout the state that represent over 450 teams and 9000 players.  The various leagues have divisions of competition which include:  men’s open, women’s open, men’s over 30, women’s over 30, men’s over 40, coed, 7 v 7 and others.

Advantages of membership in FSSA include:

            Player and team insurance

Network of leagues and teams throughout the state

Regular communication about programs and opportunities within the state and around the nation

Opportunity to participate in state and national cup competitions

Access to certified referee assignors and certified referees

Assistance from FSSA board of directors and member leagues in reaching your league’s goals

The FSSA meets twice a year.  The Annual General Meeting is held in August or September and the mid-year meeting is held in January.  League representatives and board members attend these meetings to discuss activities taking place within the organization and to plan future activities.

New leagues have the opportunity to attend one of the two annual meetings listed above to present their league for affiliation.

Finding a Team

To find a team to join, it is best to contact the league in the area you are interested in.  The individual league will be able to provide specific information about their teams, season and how to join.  You may go to the list of affiliated leagues for complete details on how to contact our member leagues.
